Ground Penetrating Radar
Impulse Radar offers a high-speed non-destructive technique to detect
underground objects and utilities as well as being able to establish an extensive
range of construction and condition information of civil and structural materials.
The technique works whereby a radar antenna transmits electromagnetic
impulses into the ground and the reflections from different underground layers,
materials and objects are returned and recorded by receiving equipment. This
raw data is then processed, interpreted and then finally presented to the end
client in outputs of their choice.
High speed impulse radar can be used without the need for traffic management and coring. Impulse Geophysics developed a method of auto-calibrating the impulse radar using antennae arrays in 1993. The technique has been extensively used and has been shown to produce high quality material thickness information. The data is used in conjunction with FWD and Deflectograph.
At Impulse Geophysics we are specialists at detecting and locating the position and depth of metallic and non-metallic objects. These include utilities such as gas, communications, sewer lines as well as underground storage tanks and PVC pipes in various soil types.
